Post-doctoral fellow

Dr. Ana Clara Bobadilla hails from Argentina yet has lived most of her life in France. Her inspiration to be a scientist comes from her mother, who is a physicist. Ana grew up going to the lab with her mom and has loved science ever since. She studied the subject and received her PhD in Neuroscience from the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris. It was after presenting her work at the Society for Neuroscience conference in 2014 that she met Dr. Kalivas who asked her to start her first post-doctoral year at MUSC. She loves Charleston and under Dr. Kalivas mentorship, she studies brain addiction in mice. When she's not in the lab Ana Clara enjoys shooting portraits, dancing Tango, listening to good music and discovering new places.

Dr. Bobadilla speaks about her journey to the Society of Neuroscience, where she found her post-doctorate job through networking and presenting there. This year, she heads back to the conference which takes place in San Diego and will once again be showcasing her work. It was after presenting her work at the Society for Neuroscience conference in 2014 that she met Dr. Kalivas who asked her to start her first post-doctoral year at MUSC. Her study focuses on understanding the activity of the brain as it experiences a "trigger" that results in the relapse of drug addiction.
